What I'm up to in December 2024

Philipp C. Gérard
This month, I’m sharing a quick update on what I’ve been working on, what’s ahead, and some things I’m currently enjoying. I'm doing this here instead of on social media as I believe that's a healthier and more authentic way of keeping friends & family in the loop. Here’s a glimpse into my world lately:

November

I spent most of November focused on two consulting projects that I’ve genuinely enjoyed. Both were engaging, collaborative, and pushed me to think critically in different ways. I always find this kind of work incredibly rewarding—it’s a pleasure to see ideas turn into actionable strategies that make an impact.

December

Looking ahead, I’m diving into some personal technical development. Specifically, I’m revisiting Ruby on Rails, which I’ve always appreciated but never got to fully explore. With version 8 now available, it feels like the perfect time to jump back in. Learning for the sake of curiosity and personal growth is something I’ve been prioritizing, and I’m excited to see where this takes me.

Things to Share:

  • Gear: I recently got my hands on the new Mac Mini M4 Pro, and it’s an absolute joy to use. The speed and performance are so impressive that it even outshines my M1 Max MacBook—every day, I find myself marveling at how fast (and silent) it is.
  • Art: I was mesmerized by the work of Robert Longo that is currently on display at the Albertina Museum in Vienna. Highly recommend it, it's hard to believe he works almost only with charcoal.
  • Music: Lately, I’ve been rediscovering the incredible music of Lucio Battisti. His work is timeless, and it’s been such a joy to revisit his discography. Highly recommend it if you’re in need of something soulful and nostalgic.
That’s it for now—next month promises a mix of coding, consulting, and, hopefully, a bit of Italian sunshine. What have you been up to? Let me know if you have any recommendations for music, tools, or places to explore in Italy!
